Welcome to Rocky Mountain Calvary

A NOTE FROM PASTOR ERIC
We’re so glad you’re looking for a church home, and it is a joy for us to serve your spiritual needs. Our supreme desire is to worship Jesus in spirit and in truth while pointing people to Jesus Christ alone. It is our prayer that the following information will help you get acquainted with the biblical foundations of our fellowship and our ‘practical ministry’ vision in reaching Colorado Springs with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
OUR VISION
We invite you to be apart of what God is doing at RMC.
BE Disciples, MAKE Disciples, SEND Disciples
BE Disciples
Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men – Matt. 4:19. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in breaking of bread, and in prayers – Acts 2:42. Jesus never asked for church attendees; instead He calls us to be disciples. Our desire is that each person who comes
to RMC would respond to the invitation of Christ and become a committed follower of Him. What this means practically for us as a fellowship is that we continue to follow the example of the first group of disciples in the book of Acts steadfastly by passionately pursuing Christ through discipleship.
MAKE Disciples
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit – Matthew 28:19. After we respond to God’s call to follow Christ, He then instructs us to make disciples of all the nations, taking what He taught and sharing it with family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and all people reaching the ends of the earth. each one of us is called by Jesus to be involved in the Great Commission.
SEND Disciples
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and samaria, and to the end of the earth – Acts 1:8. once others are introduced to Christ and discipled, it is our desire for them to be sent out in Jesus’ name.
OUR CORE VALUES
Rocky Mountain Calvary is a fellowship planted in Colorado springs to bring glory and honor to the name of the Lord. Highlighted below are some biblical core values that we believe shape our existence.
1. WE EXIST FOR THE GLORY OF GOD.
We are here for Him. We must be God centered in what we do, pointing always to Him, in our daily lives and ministry. Don’t touch the glory of God—it is His alone. Israel was the weakest of all nations, we must not glory in wisdom, strength or riches, but in the Lord.
- 1 Cor. 1:26-31 – He chooses the weak. Glory only in the Lord that we should not glory in ourselves.
- Jer. 9:23-24 – Glory only in the fact that we know and understand God.
- Is. 42:8 – “I will not share my glory.” Don’t let people follow your personality.
- Col. 1:18 – In all things, remember His preeminence. He is first.
2. WE TREMBLE BEFORE GOD’S WORD.
Is. 66:1-2 – A poor and contrite spirit trembles at His Word. Familiarity can lead to complacency and loss of passion if we lose the trembling—the awe of who He is and what He says. Open the Word with faith. It’s never just another Bible study if we tremble at His Word. Everything flows from the Word of God as we tremble before Him.
3. WE ARE DETERMINED TO PREACH CHRIST.
I Cor. 2:1-2 – “And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.”
4. WE VALUE RELATIONSHIP — FIRST, OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD, THEN WITH ONE ANOTHER.
Matt. 22:37-40, Eph. 4:1-6, ps. 133:1 – Great ministry flows out of great relationships—discipleship, accountability, and unity. Love covers many sins and it takes the fuel out of the fire. Be good at relationships, “endeavoring to keep the unity of the spirit…” It takes concentrated effort. We are one body and we will need to work hard to keep relationships right.
5. WE PURSUE EXCELLENCE IN ALL WE DO.
Col. 3:23 “And whatever you do, do heartily as to the Lord…” – Stay fresh with the purpose to glorify God and not ourselves. It’s all for Him, so let the excellence of your service be worship to God. Whatever you do, do it with all your heart as to the Lord. If you have to, do less and do it well.
6. WE PASSIONATELY PURSUE THE LOST.
Matt. 28:17-20 – “Go therefore…” – Don’t close out the world in a little church bubble. Time is short and eternity is real. We are here for such a time as this in a generation that is perishing.
7. WE WANT TO SEE THE GIANTS FALL.
This only comes if we walk by faith, not looking just to be comfortable. 2 Cor. 5:7 – When we only hear, we become stale and sterile. our goal must be to walk by faith, no matter what the cost. To be willing to risk it all—may God put to death the idea of playing it safe. Joshua was right on with Jericho and wrong with Ai. God will write our story.
8. WE UNDERSTAND OUR BATTLE IS SPIRITUAL — SO PRAYER IS A PRIORITY.
2 Cor 10:3-6 “… mighty in God for pulling down of strongholds.” Eph. 6:12 tells us that the bat- tle is not against flesh and blood. prayer is not our last resort, but our highest priority. Greater is He that is in us…
9. WE REFUSE TO BE OLD WINESKINS.
Matt. 9:14-17 – Resist the thought, “This is the way we have always done this…” The message is the same, but the methods can change. If we are inflexible, His Spirit will move on. The oil of the Holy spirit and the wine of His blood softens old wineskins. soak in Him.
10. WE TRUST IN GOD’S PROVISION.
2 Cor. 9:6-8 – “But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. so let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHO IS ROCKY MOUNTAIN CALVARY?
Rocky Mountain Calvary is a non-denominational church welcoming all peoples from all nations. our vision is to Be disciples, MAke disciples, and senD disciples. We pursue this through passionate worship, faithful verse by verse teaching of the Bible, and supporting those reaching others with the Good news of Jesus Christ.
WHEN ARE THE SERVICE TIMES?
We have three weekend services at: 6:00pm Saturday nights, 9:00am and 11:00am Sunday mornings We also have a mid-week Bible study, Wednesday Evenings at 6:30pm. Please check our other ministries that meet during the week.
Pastor Eric also can be heard on GRACE FM 101.7FM (Colorado Springs) or 89.7FM (Denver) at 6:00am and 3:00pm weekdays, and at 6:00am Sunday.
WHO CALLS ROCKY MOUNTAIN CALVARY HOME?
A variety of believers of all ages, colors, shapes, and maturity faithfully attend Rocky Mountain Calvary. We strive to make “big church” small through the multiple small group format studies and gatherings that meet most days of the week. Though we may seem big in numbers, get to know a few people and the size shrinks considerably. Get plugged in by serving or getting involved in one of our small groups.
DOES RMC TEACH THROUGH THE WHOLE BIBLE?
Yes. God gave us the entirety of His Word to study and live our lives so we examine and teach the whole counsel of God. We do this primarily through verse by verse teaching, or as the prophet Isaiah said, “For precept must be upon precept, line upon line, here a little, there a little.” Isaiah 28:10
WHY DON’T YOU PASS AN OFFERING PLATE DURING SERVICES?
We don’t disagree with collecting special offerings for specific occasions, but we feel that routine tithes and offerings are a matter between you and God. We believe God loves a cheerful giver and asks us to support the local church through tithes and offerings. However, we also believe God guides giving as an act of worship between you and God alone. Because of this, we provide offering boxes in the foyer.
DO YOU HAVE AN ADEQUATE NURSERY FACILITY?
Yes, our nursery staff and volunteers provide an atmosphere of love and care for infants and toddlers during all services so parents can worship the Lord. They tend to the needs of the children through practical care and playful fun. For more information, contact Joetta at joettag@ellicott.rmcalvary.org.
CAN I GET INVOLVED SERVING RIGHT AWAY?
Most of our ministries require three months of faithful weekly attendance before serving in that ministry. We desire to see that you truly consider RMC to be your home church, and three months allows for time to consider such a commitment at God’s direction. That time also allows us the opportunity to get to know you, recognize your gifts, and confirm your calling as you step out to serve here at RMC.
ARE THERE PROGRAMS FOR MY kIDS AND TEENAGERS?
yes! Children’s ministry has programs from infancy through fifth grade. During the weekend, children’s ministry services are during the main services. First through fifth grades cover the same text as pastor eric, but at a level of understanding, comprehension, and, of course, some fun. on Wednesday nights, children’s ministry follows the AWAnA curriculum for Bible knowledge and application.
The Junior High (6th – 8th grade) meets on Wednesdays and the weekends. The weekend services follow the same text as the main congregation, and Wednesdays are always engaging. There are also a variety of activities like youth retreats, broom ball, laser tag and other events that happen during the year. At times there may be small groups happening as well.
our senior High meets Wednesday nights and sundays at 9:00am. Like the others, they study the same text on sunday mornings but learn in different formats on Wednesday nights. They too schedule plenty of fun events of faith and fellowship.
WHY ARE CHILDREN DEDICATED TO THE LORD?
The scriptures give evidence that children have been dedicated to the Lord. Dedicating our children to the Lord is a public declaration to raise our children in the nurture and instruction of the Lord. The congregation witnesses this and agrees to accept responsibility to help parents raise their children in these aspects through community life in the church.
DO WE BAPTIZE INFANTS OR BABIES?
At RMC we believe the scriptures teach that believers are baptized. However, we also see the dedication of infants to the Lord. The way we carry this out is through baby dedications, which occur monthly, usually on the second weekend of the month. Parents can contact Linda at lindac@ellicott.rmcalvary.org for more information.
IF I HAVE ALREADY ACCEPTED JESUS CHRIST AND HAVE BEEN BAPTIZED IN ANOTHER EVANGELICAL CHURCH, WILL I HAVE TO GET BAPTIZED AGAIN?
We at RMC hold to believer’s baptism by immersion as revealed in Scripture. Sometimes people have come to faith in Jesus Christ after being baptized as an infant in another church and decide to follow and profess Christ in believer’s baptism. Others realize they were baptized out of wrong reasons or motives and wish to be baptized again after true faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism is directed by Christ in the Great Commission, so we encourage all who believe in Jesus to be baptized.
WHERE IS THE GREATEST NEED FOR SERVANTS AT RMC?
There are numberous areas to serve. Our children’s ministry is always in need of leaders and assistants. other areas that need support are within the ushers and security ministries. Please prayerfully consider these areas as you complete a volunteer application.
DOES THE CHURCH HAVE A PRAYER MINISTRY?
Yes we do! We primarily facilitate this ministry through daily email requests and updates of submitted prayer requests. We truly value our prayer warriors. To get involved contact prayer@ellicott.rmcalvary.org.
