What is Marriage Mentoring?

Married life can be wonderful, but it can also be filled with difficulty and frustration. These challenges can be more easily overcome through a mentoring relationship.

Mentoring has been around for centuries and has been the primary way of passing on skills and knowledge. The Bible is filled with examples of mentoring. Jesus was constantly modeling to His disciples how to love and minister to others as He taught them God’s truth. Today, mentoring is rarely seen.

Marriage mentoring is the linking of a younger married couple with an older, more seasoned couple who will come alongside to build a relationship. The mentor couple will listen, encourage, and guide them with biblical counsel to help strengthen their marriage.

The two couples will meet about twice a month for Bible study on topics related to marriage, to discuss problems that have been encountered, and to pray. The bonds of Christian fellowship will grow stronger as the couples get to know each other. The details of meeting times and locations, along with childcare provisions, are decided by the two couples.

How Do We Get Matched Up With a Mentor Couple?

If you find yourself struggling with certain issues in your marriage but aren’t sure how to overcome them, a mentoring relationship can be very helpful. This is not for couples whose marriage is in a state of crisis, but for those who need practical and biblical help to make their marriage all that God intends for it to be.
